Climate Change Adaptation Resource

Case Studies

By evaluating the actual development and implementation of a number of real adaptation activities carried out by several different communities, the Clim-ATIC project attempted to identify and understand the issues relevant to stakeholders at a local level.

Each project activity has been carefully recorded, and local lessons and experiences have been extracted, to offer over 30 valuable case studies on climate change adaptation. Case studies are grouped either by county, theme or adaptation process stage. Each case study contains a variety of information material including photographs, posters, case study reports, podcasts, web links and other project output and non project documents.

Five countries took part in the project:

  1. Greenland
  2. Finland
  3. Norway
  4. Scotland
  5. Sweden

Four themes were the focus of adaptation activities:

  1. Transport
  2. Tourism
  3. Energy
  4. Risk management

Project activities covered all aspects of the process of adaptation capacity building and implementation

  1. Assessing vulnerability
  2. Communication and decision making
  3. Adaptation strategy development
  4. Implementation
